Hey, I'm Giacomo.
I am an Information Designer and fermentation enthusiast based between
BerlinDE and BolognaIT.
Mainly, I am interested in exploring the intersection of technology, journalism, and culture, where I work on both commissioned and autonomous research projects. I also teach from time to time.
From design to programming, I explore the web with a focus on information structure and visualisation. My practice ranges between building web interfaces, designing tools and prototyping.
I co-founded Krisenstab, and I am currently building Vantage, while working at Airwars and metaLAB.
Occasionally, I teach at Weißensee Kunsthochschule.
Feel free to leave a drawing, write to me

The data in the graph comes from this spreadsheet. The images in this website use dither-dither.
Men are from Earth, Women are from Earth, and Ai are from Earth too.
The disproportionate often irresponsive use of Machine learning Algorithms risks to emphasise stereotypes already present in data. Whenever data reflects biases of the broader society, the learning algorithm captures and learns from these stereotypes.
On this website we visualise how text embeddings trained on Google News represent gender.
This project resulted from research conducted under the supervision of Anja Groten in the master department Information Design at Design Academy Eindhoven (NL), 2018.
These further experiments delve into the lives of Amazon Mechanical Turk workers. Following the logic of the platform, workers have been employed for a small fee and asked to give a glimpse of their private lifes. Unlike the typical use of the platform, the submitted data prompt reflection on hidden labor, material quality, and ways of rebelling against a system on the verge of ethics.
This projects contributed to my Master thesis at Design Academy Eindhoven.
